Saint John Bosco Art Print

This 5x7" sacred art print is a reproduction of my original black and white charcoal drawing featuring Saint John Bosco, patron saint of youth and schoolchildren! In this piece, I chose to show John Bosco holding a book filled with roses and thorns in direct reference to his dream regarding the path of roses (read about this dream below). This original hand drawn piece is the perfect gift for parents and teachers as they seek encouragement while fulfilling their call to care for Our Lord’s littlest ones.

ABOUT JOHN BOSCO/ THE ROSE COVERED PATH

Saint John Bosco was a priest who dedicated his life to serving the poor, underprivileged, and uneducated. He lived during a time where countless young boys lived on the streets and were considered a nuisance by most of society. Our Lady called him to take these boys in and educate them with charity, kindness, and love. He believed in educating the whole person, and did so with joy!

John Bosco is one of those saints who I look at with mouth wide open in disbelief…

How in the world did he do what he did?

All with very little help and with even fewer funds.

We hear stories of him playing with the boys in the street, performing magic tricks…essentially spreading joy and making education fun. It was more than just a “job” it was truly a calling.

He set the bar high, that’s for sure! And I inspire to be like him in so many ways.

John Bosco received many dreams/visions within his life. My personal favorite is a dream in which Our Lady bid John Bosco to walk down a beautiful path of roses. The roses were so lovely, but when John Bosco stepped onto the path, he quickly found that thorns were hidden underneath. His feet and legs became lacerated as he continued down the path. Our Lady told John Bosco, that this path of roses represented his call to take care of youth. It was a beautiful call, but one which would require many sacrifices and mortifications along the way (i.e. the thorns).
