Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Art Print
This 5x7" art print is a reproduction of my original charcoal drawing featuring Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Saint Elizabeth was the first American born saint, and is credited to planting the seeds of Catholic school education in the United States. After the death of her husband, Saint Elizabeth converted to Catholicism. Despite being rejected by friends and family (both hers and those of pupils at her all boy’s school) for her conversion, Elizabeth stood firm in her faith, holding fast to the Eucharist and devotion to Our Lady. She went on to start a new religious Order, the Sisters of Charity of St. Joseph as well as the country’s first Catholic school, Saint Joseph’s Academy. In this sketch, Saint Elizabeth is portrayed reading with two children outside of Saint Joseph’s, making this the perfect gift for Catholic school teachers and children.
