Welcome!
My name is Haley Dessauer and I am a Catholic artist and Live Event Painter from Southern Illinois.
I have always desired to share the beauty of the Catholic Faith through my paint brushes. And after 13 years of timidly doing so, I now see the importance of saying “yes” to Jesus boldly,
In a world where the sacredness of man-made art is under attack, and the truth of Christ’s Love is grossly misinterpreted/misunderstood, I pray that my art may draw others closer to His Sacred Heart.
Work in Progress…
I am currently working on a rather large oil painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Christ Child in a heartfelt embrace. This piece is heavily inspired by the icon, “Our Lady of Tenderness,” a deeply moving historical piece which I highly encourage others to pray with.
While I certainly don’t intend to “recreate” this traditional icon in such a different style, I am keeping in mind the deep symbolism and hope to incorporate similar elements into my own piece.
That being said, I am beyond happy to allow the Lord to work through my paintbrush while creating a prayerful image that inspires others to seek comfort within the Mantle of Mary. Christ clings to His mother lovingly in this piece while staring at the viewer with solemn eyes as an invitation: An invitation to cling to His Mother as well. “Behold your mother” he says to us. (Jn 19:26-27). She will hold us just as she held the Christ Child. And she will carry us straight to Our Lord if we but return her embrace.
